Coming into a care home was the last thing I ever dreamt I would need in my life. However, circumstances have changed at the age of 94 and I was fortunate enough to move into Newlands. Here all my local friends can easily visit and I can still enjoy attending some of the activities I was previously involved in.
I have been able to create a home like feeling by bringing in pictures and furniture from my home which has helped me settle in quite quickly.
The home offers a wonderful array of events from garden summer parties, to quizzes, to film nights and excursions out. We are also encouraged in keeping nimble by attending the weekly aerobic classes.
An element that has astonished me is that the chef visits me monthly to ask for feedback and suggestions about all our meals for his up and coming menus. Nothing is too much bother in the catering team nor any member of staff, whether it be the maintenance man, the chef or the care staff!
There is a very warm and friendly atmosphere created by a dedicated care team who strive to go above and beyond on a daily basis.

The thought of leaving my family home was very distressing, I wasn’t sure where to begin or would I adjust to communal living.
I needn’t have worried!
The transition was very smooth and I now have more support than I could have ever dreamt of. Whenever I need reassurance, advice or just an ear to bend, someone is always there. The staff are extremely caring, polite and helpful.
I still miss my own home dearly, however Newlands is the very next best thing.

The staff are brilliant, they are here for me any time of the day or not.
I have an extremely comfortable apartment which I have put my own stamp on it and it looks divine.
I looked at 3 other sites but was drawn to Newlands as it was small and very personalised.
It was the best decision I made.
